McWILLIAM, RENAUD

Greetings from Ottawa;
My name is Sonja Harding and I am researching the John Alexander (Alec) McWILLIAM family of Sturgeon Falls. Alec was married to the former Stella RENAUD, and we know that the couple had four children at least. I am collaborating with a gentleman who is researching the RENAUD line. Alec was the son of John James McWILLIAM, born in Co. Roscommon Ireland in 1861. Our common ancestor is my ggGrandfather, whose name was also John Alexander McWILLIAM. As a result of much collaboration among my fellow McWILLIAM researchers we have assembled a family tree that includes more than 1400 individuals across eight generations. There is much data to share with Alec's descendants, if only we can find them.

Sincerely, Sonja Harding

I've not been able to find anything on his parents, Joseph Latour and Scholastique Minville, nor have I been able to find a marriage record for Alfred Joseph Latour, born 1859, died Jan 20, 1833 in North Bay. He married Elizabeth Laura Cain, born about 1874 and died Sept 1952 in Sturgeon Falls, Nipissing.

DAWE, JACKSON, BULL

Hi, I've been trying to research my father's family and had some help from a woman who has access to Ancestry.ca. She has been able to send me marriage certificates for my grandparents Tom Dawe & Emily Jackson, Percy Dawe & Edith Bull, and Elizabeth Jackson & Joseph Ingleson. The marriages for Tom and Percy were in Cobalt. Elizabeth's was in Toronto. According to Tom's marriage cert., he had been in Cobalt since 1909 as a blacksmith, although he was a miner in Yorkshire where he was born. Percy was also born in England, as were the rest of the couples. At some time, Tom had gone back for his bride; she told me she was 17 when she sailed. I don't know when Elizabeth, Joseph, Edith, or Percy came over. Now that I have their marriage certificates, I've been able to knock down some of my brick walls. But I don't know about the immigration question. Also, Tom's parents brought him over with his siblings, maybe around 1909, since they all appear in the 1901 UK-YKS census.

Tom's birthday was 19 Sep 1890, Percy was born 23 June, 1892, and Margaret, their sister who was a witness at least at one of the weddings, was born 19 Dec 1899. All three were born in N. Skelton, NRY, YKS. Emily Gertrude Jackson was born 27 Mar 1894, Elizabeth was born abt. 1900. Both girls were born in Leed, YKS. Edith Mary Bull was born abt. 1891 in Redcar, YKS; Joseph Ingleson (Elizabeth's groom) was born abt 1881 in Portland, Dorset, England. Tom's parents were born in Cornwall and County Durham. I'm not sure who else emigrated to Canada. I have others in that family who went directly to the US. All but Elizabeth and Joseph moved to the US. Elizabeth raised her family and died in Toronto.

Additional INFO:
Frank (1917 - 1980) and my dad's sister, Clarice (1913 - 1996), is buried not far away with her husband. My dad was Percival Arthur Dawe, born 6 Feb 1915; died 1968. He was known Red or Art from at least the 1930's. All three of them were born in Cobalt. From what I understand, information regarding their births (1913, 1915, & 1917) is too recent to be released by the Canadian government. I appreciate anything you can find out about any of it.

I'd appreciate any information anyone can give me that would further my research.

KARAOTTE (or variations of the name), PELLETIER,
OUECHIPICHINOKOUC (spelling may off)

SPECIFICS:
I am writing to find out if you can help me locate info on this man. I am a distant relative of his and wanted to know if he is an Algonquin chief. Another source of information told me he was an American Indian (Amerindian) of the Montagnais Tribe. He married Marie Josephe Pelletier on July 12, 1721 in Tadoussac, Quebec. Marie was born to Nicolas Pelletier and Francoise Ouechipichinokouc. If anyone has info on Marie's native heritage I would be interested in it as well.

This stuff is fasinating. We've always heard there was a native connection in our family through the Blackburns from Quebec but until now it was only a story. I've found enough info to make it official so I am really excited to establish my native roots. My spelling of names may not be accurate but, as you know, one site spells it one way and one another. It is close enough that people reading this will know who I am referring to.

Any information you or your readers can provide will be most appreciated. Many thanks.
