Military Resources & Links

Many men and women devoted their lives to the wars fought in our society. This page is to honour them and to help others in their quest to find out more about their ancestors. We give thanks and honour all our soldiers for all their valient efforts in helping keep this world a safer place for generations to come.

The following links are for pages of WWI and WWII soldiers out of the Appendix of WKP Kennedy's book, North Bay. Many people came to enlist in North Bay, so no matter which area of Nipissing District you're looking for make sure to check out these pages.

Pictured is my grandfather Gord Allison (right) with his best friend Ivor "Derrick" Jennings (left). Derrick was shot down and listed as MIA in World War II while on an Air Operation over Germany. His body was never recovered and sometime after the 4 September 1943 the following was stated on a Death Certificate for him: "Previously reported missing after air operations, now for official purposes, presumed dead." Derrick's death was ruled an accident. He was an RCAF Air Navigator and in this occupation for 2 years prior to his last day worked which is the date stated previously. Derrick was a North Bay native and his name can be found on the Wall at Memorial Park in North Bay. He was only 20 years old... My grandfather named his only son, my father "Derrick" in honour of him. We salute you Derrick...
