Pages Added!

As of today I've added pages for:

Immigration & Passenger Lists
Census
Vital Stats: Births, Marriages & Deaths
(The last 2 were formally 1 page)

I will be also separating the Photos of Nipissing District into different categories to hopefully make it a little easier as I will be adding a great deal of photos and postcards in the days and months to come.

Newspaper and Maps oh my!

I've now added a link in the navigation bar to the left for "Newspapers of Nipissing" - this page isn't completed yet but will be a continuous work in progress.

I've also added a new map of North Bay 1944-46, to our Nipissing District Maps page!
There is much more to add from the "Gord Allison Collection" and as I scan and enter it I will post it all!

A New Addition to the site's resources!

As of February 8, 2010 I have now added the names and marital status from the "Voters' List for the Muncipality of the Township of East Ferris for the Year 1959"!!!

You can check it out from this link or through our Vital Stats page in the Navigation bar.

More to come this year folks! I'm a transcribing fool (at least I hope I am when time permits!)

Coming Soon!

It has been awhile yet again but I promise I am still here and doing all I can to help when and where I can. I apologize to everyone that has submitted queries and not seen them on the website - somewhere along the way I missed a whole bunch of emails!

Thank you everyone who has been so supportive despite my slow efforts!

On a different note - I believe I've updated and submitted all queries to the website now. Please feel free to check out the Queries page and submit a new query. Queries will now be published immediately to the website.

Coming in the next little while I will be posting my grandfather's Post Card Collection of the Nipissing area that my father Derrick so generously donated to me for that reason and of course because I wanted it them!

I will also be going through the numerous Newspapers that my grandfather had in his things pulling the Births, Marriages and Deaths from them and posting them as well. In his collection he also had 2 other North Bay newspapers from August of 1923 - I will be doing my best to scan those and get them up as well as they are so fascinating.

I have also acquired more Nipissing District Books from my father and grandfather's things - one of which is the "1959 Voter's List of East Ferris".

I will also be scanning some of my families photos from around North Bay area as they have people in them that my grandfather hung out with or new and also they are simply of historical interest.

That is just a few of things I will be working hard to get up on the website for everyone so please bear with me and know I am still here and doing what I can to help guide fellow researchers. It takes me awhile sometimes to reply so I do ask for patience as I am the only one running this show and a million other things going on with it :)

New & Improved NGW

As the host of the Nipissing District GenWeb I wanted to update finally the entire site. The transformation was long overdue and I believe that as I add new links and info the site will only get better!

I would like this page to be a collaboration of everyone in the Nipissing District doing research so I am hoping that anyone with info about the Nipissing District or about their families history in the Nipissing area will help out by contributing. One never knows when a link to another will happen!

Thank you again to everyone for their support over this past years despite my falling behind on the website and it's updates! I hope to do a better job of keeping the site updated this year!

(So everyone knows Sept 2009 will be my 3rd year hosting)

Thanks to everyone for being so supportive of my efforts to keep Nipissing GenWeb up and running smoothly.

With this past year bringing so much outside work and travels it has been hard for me to keep up with all that I WANT to do on the website but although I haven't had as much time as I'd like to I have not forgotten about it nor have have I stopped looking for new resources. Updates are little more sparse due to the fact I've gone back to work but I will post new information and requests as I can and just hope everyone will be patient with me as I do so.

I acquired a book I believe may help direct people to more discoveries: INDEX TO COBALT DAILY NUGGET: 1909-1914. There is a surname list for the book here. If you would like me to do a lookup in this periodical for you please email me. I'm very busy right now but I will certainly do my best to get back to you quickly. The periodical has Births, Marriages and Deaths from around Nipissing District so it is a wealth of information for sure.

I'm here to help where and when I can so if you have any questions please feel free to email me anytime. I may be able to help with some brickwall questions as I have some contacts willing to help out through me. If you would need a little help I can search Births, Marriages and Deaths through ancestry but it will need to be a limited search, specific names only. So have a look through the site and good luck in your research!
