Always Remember they fought and died for what we have today
and pray for the soldiers fighting today to help once again save our tomorrows....
A reason to remember...
Left - Derrick Jennings Right - Gord Allison
Pictured is my grandfather Gord Allison (right) with his best
friend Ivor "Derrick" Jennings (left). Derrick was shot down and listed as MIA in World War II while on an Air Operation
over Germany. His body was never recovered and sometime after the 4 September 1943 the following was stated on a
Death Certificate for him: "Previously reported missing after air operations, now for official purposes, presumed
dead." Derrick's death was ruled an accident. He was an RCAF Air Navigator and in this occupation for 2 years
prior to his last day worked which is the date stated previously. Derrick was a North Bay native and his name can be found
on the Wall at Memorial Park in North Bay. He was only 20 years old... My grandfather named his only son, my father "Derrick"
in honour of him. We salute you Derrick...
